Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has said that the government’s tax machinery will be reformed in consultation with stakeholders, a news source reported. He provided his assurance on this front to top officials of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) during a meeting held on Wednesday.
PM Khan stated that serious reforms were needed to revamp the tax machinery and that the process on this front had already been launched. He opined that the tax officer should consider the matter and give their feedback as their role was vital for the country’s economic stability.

Further, the prime minister invited proposals from the tax officials; asking them to utilise their work experience in order to make the tax system more efficient.
He said that the tax system needed to eliminate fear and misapprehensions from the minds of the taxpayers. Moreover, he assured the officers that the money collected from public will be put to transparent and effective use.

The PM resolved to cut back on the lavish lifestyle of the public officials and exaggerated protocol of the public offices. He said he was committed to facilitate the entrepreneurs by offering them a business-friendly environment.
