Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued directives to extend the working hours of Large Taxpayer Offices (LTOs), Medium Tax Offices (MTOs), and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) on September 30, reported a source on September 18.

The details state that the offices will extend their working hours until 8:00 pm on Saturday (September 30). The FBR’s instructions, issued on Monday, have called upon all Inland Revenue (IR) Chief Commissioners to establish a close liaison with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and authorized branches of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP).
The objective of this link and extension is to ensure the timely transfer of taxes collected by NBP’s branches to the respective branches of SBP on the same date, accounting for the collection for the month of September 2023.

In line with these instructions, IR Chief Commissioners are expected to instruct only those officials who are directly involved in taxpayers’ facilitation, return filing, and the collection and recovery of taxes to observe extended working hours.
