Islamabad: The Federal Government of Pakistan is to present its PKR 5.7 trillion budget 2018-19 in the National Assembly today at 4:30 PM, according to a news source. The budget will be presented by Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance Miftah Ismail.
The tax target for the fiscal year is to be set at PKR 4.5 trillion. Out of the PKR 5.7 trillion, PKR 1.55 trillion is expected to be allocated to principal payment and service debt, while PKR 220 billion will be reserved for subsidies in form of Ramazan Package, provision of wheat for Gilgit Baltistan region, and for construction of small dams, and the power and textile sectors.
On development schemes, the federal government is expected to spend PKR 1,010 billion. PKR 2,565 billion is likely to be given to the provinces for poverty reduction, social safety and health and education.
In the budget, the government is also expected to increase salaries and pensions of government servants by 10-15%.
