Karachi: The Sindh government has announced the formation of a special task force to oversee the development, restoration, and beautification of Karachi’s major roads and commercial areas. The initiative aims to enhance the city’s infrastructure, improve cleanliness, and address long-standing civic challenges.
According to a statement from the chief secretary’s office, the task force will be led by Karachi’s mayor and will coordinate efforts across multiple government agencies. Its primary objectives include ensuring efficient garbage removal, eliminating encroachments, resolving illegal parking issues, and improving sewerage systems.

The beautification drive will focus on key thoroughfares such as Sharea Faisal, Shahrah-e-Quaideen, Sher Shah Suri Road, Shaheed-e-Millat Road, Karsaz Road, Abdullah Haroon Road to Shahrah-e-Firdousi (up to Abdullah Shah Ghazi’s shrine), and II Chundrigar Road.
Additionally, the task force plans to introduce pedestrian-friendly features, expand green spaces, enhance street lighting, and upgrade public infrastructure to create a cleaner, safer, and more visually appealing urban environment.
Sindh Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah emphasized Karachi’s importance as the province’s economic and cultural hub, highlighting that resolving traffic congestion, tackling encroachments, and improving public spaces are top priorities. He directed all relevant departments to fully cooperate with the task force to ensure efficient resource utilization and timely execution of projects.
