Regarding the prevailing issue of water shortages in the city, CM Shah held a second meeting at his official residence and issued instructions for the members of the task force to launch their drive in the next two days.
The task force will be led by Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Shah and will include members CM’s Special Assistant Waqar Mehdi, Karachi commissioner, deputy commissioners concerned, police chief, KWSB Vice Chairman Najmi Alam and others. The said team will take decisive action against illegal connections and hydrants.
LG Secretary Najam Shah briefed the meeting that the KWSP infrastructure started from Keenjhar Lake to a bulk water supply network taking water to reservoirs and pumps for distribution. In response, CM Shah directed the board to install meters to measure the water being provided to the citizens from Keenjhar up to the distribution network to obtain accurate data about losses. Mr Shah was of the view that a monitoring system was vital for water supply across Karachi based on population density. He also asked for a meter system to be established right from the Hub source.
