Kabul: on 23rd February 2018, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India launched their mega gas pipeline project, according to a news report. The leaders of the four countries were present for a ceremony at Sehretabat, followed by another in Herat.
The pipeline will be constructed at a cost of PKR 8 billion within two years. The pumping capacity of the pipeline is expected to be 33 billion cubic metres (bcm) of natural gas from Turkeministan’s Galkynysh gas field.
PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said at the occasion, “TAPI will lead from a gas pipeline into an energy and communication corridor.” He also congratulated Asian Development Bank for its prominent role in turning this project into reality.
