Faisalabad: The Local Government & Community Development Department Punjab and the National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) are currently in talks to expand the scope of the ‘Baldia Online’ app — a news source reported.

According to the details available, once both the departments have come to an agreement, the authorities concerned are expected to begin collecting fees for the issuance of death and birth certificates through the said online portal. Additionally, a home-delivery service will also be introduced for the benefit of the citizens.
The LG&CD department had previously introduced the app on August 14, in collaboration with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). The app allows people to apply for birth and death certificates, and allows for marriage and divorce registrations as well.
Reportedly, more than 100,000 users downloaded and registered on the app within a few days of its release — with a total of 196,017 people having additionally registered on the app since then.

Moreover, the provincial authorities have also established 111 field offices in order to allow citizens to collect their birth certificates with ease.
