The CM made these comments while chairing a meeting regarding the anti-encroachment drive that was recently launched in the area. The attendees were briefed on the operation conducted so far, and its future course of action. The meeting also identified constructions along the river that were affecting its flow. The session was also informed that the flood plan had been updated several times since the 2010 floods in order to ensure that all possible scenarios were covered.

CM Khan approved of the operations being conducted against these encroachments over several phases, and said that the illegal constructions could not be allowed to stand; as they not only pollute the river, but were also a direct threat to human lives.
He also instructed that further constructions should be monitored and curbed immediately so that the issue of encroachments does not get out of hand again.
