Islamabad: The Swiss government is willing to share details of Pakistanis who have stashed assets abroad for tax evasion purposes – a news source reported.

Minister of State for Revenue Hammad Azhar expressed his views on the matter. He was addressing a press conference at the Press Information Department in Islamabad.
In January, Islamabad had made a formal request to the Swiss authorities with regard to obtaining the said information. Minister Azhar said that a cooperation mechanism to this effect has yet to be finalised between Pakistan and Switzerland.

He further informed that the federal government has sought assistance from 10 more countries under a framework mechanism devised by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
OECD is a 36-member global body that provides a model tax convention on bilateral negotiations primarily concerning tax coordination and cooperation.

Sharing the details of this development, the minister said that Pakistan has obtained information on at least 150,000 bank account holders in 29 countries.
