Islamabad: President Arif Alvi has invited Swiss companies to invest in Pakistan, a news source reported. He cited investment opportunities in renewable, clean technology, along with hydel power generation projects.

The president met with the Council of States of Swiss Confederation President Jean Rene Fournier on Tuesday. He informed Fournier that there were a significant number of investment opportunities for Swiss firms in Research and innovation for increasing productivity and profitability in the dairy, crops, seed production, and biotechnology sectors.
President Alvi added that industrial growth had given rise to massive demand in all facets of Pakistan’s sea, air, road, rail, and physical infrastructure. He also indicated the potential of development of tourism infrastructure in the country. He said that Swiss firms could explore all these opportunities.

The president appreciated the economic, commercial, and trade partnership between the two sides. He said that while the trade volume between the two was increasing steadily, there was still more potential. Citing Pakistan’s improved ease of doing business ranking, Alvi said that the government’s business-friendly policies were bearing fruit.
