Rawalpindi: Punjab Excise and Taxation (E&T) Director General (DG) Ms Saleha Saeed has ordered the reassessment of previous surveys conducted to bring properties adjoining highways/motorways under the tax net, news sources reported. The team will visit the Rawalpindi region on June 09 for the assessment.

For the same purpose, major highways including Grand Trunk (GT) Road, Kahoota Road, and Kalar Road were surveyed before. However, the Punjab Excise and Taxation DG has constituted a team that will visit Rawalpindi to audit and resurvey the areas, to better understand the volume of properties along the major highways.

The Punjab Excise department has previously inspected the province’s roads and motorways in order to classify and bring previously tax-exempt properties within the tax net. A total of 700,000 commercial and residential structures are estimated to be present along the country’s 40,000 kilometers of highways. The survey was launched by the department in order to increase revenue for the exchequer. Drones, 3D photos, and Geographic Information Surveys (GIS) were among the modern technologies used (GIS) for the said survey.
