Gujranwala: The Punjab Excise and Taxation Department recently launched a survey to include properties that are located on highways and motorways into the tax net, according to a news source. The government authority formed special teams for this purpose, who will conduct the surveys in a timely manner.
The survey has been approved by all relevant officials, and this will mark the first time that such residential and commercial properties have been included in the tax net. The first phase of the survey includes all types of buildings along the highways and motorways that pass by cities including Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Hafizabad, and Mandi Bahauddin.

According to the information available, since the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has not issued any form of tax rates for these specific areas, the taxes applicable on them will based on the District Commissioner (DC)’s rates. However, it is important to note that the final decision will be made after the Punjab government deliberates further on the matter.
