Peshawar: The Federal Petroleum Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan has said that the centre and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have agreed to supply natural gas to the areas that fall within five kilometres of gas fields, a news source reported. The measure is meant to stop check gas theft in the southern districts of the province.
The decision has been made under the 2001 federal government policy and Council of Common Interest decisions that promised gas supply to the settlements falling within a five-kilometre radius of gas fields.
The minister while speaking on the matter also said that the federal government had decided to allow the provincial government’s representatives to be part of the gas companies’ boards.
