Islamabad: National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri has issued directions to the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) to restore the blocked Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) of Balochistan provincials, according to news sources. He gave these instructions during a meeting with NADRA Chairman Usman Yousaf Mobin at the Parliament House on Thursday.
As per details, NADRA had blocked a number of CNICs owing to a number of reasons during the last decade. The affectees of this suspension belong to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and various localities of Karachi; where several migrants from the then East Pakistani had settled after the events of 1971.

Suri asked the NADRA chairman to make the conditions more convenient for unlocking these CNICs. He observed that the blockage of CNICs was causing serious problems for these people. The cards of even those who are bona fide citizens were blocked due to legal complications and the absence of proper documentation.

The deputy speaker lauded the authority on completing the development work of a modern E-Sahulat Centre in of Quetta’s Satellite Town. He expressed his hope that the federal government would aid Quetta citizens in their CNIC acquisition efforts. He stated that NADRA’s convenience centres in the city lacked proper facilities. He further directed the federal institution to establish a modern 24/7 facilitation centre in Quetta.
