Gwadar: Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division) Musadik Malik shared Pakistan’s intention to engage China and European countries in the construction of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plants at Gwadar, according to news published in the national dailies on June 22.

The purpose of this initiative is to fulfill their energy requirements by routing gas supplies from Central Asian countries, ultimately transforming Gwadar into an international energy hub.
The news source mentioned that the Pakistani government is actively involved in discussions with Central Asian nations, European countries, Turkey, China, and the United States to position Pakistan as a prominent trading hub for natural gas and LNG. It was disclosed that talks have taken place with Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, while discussions with the European Commission’s energy task force have also been held.

Minister Malik emphasized the development of the Gwadar project could play a crucial role in effectively managing the supply and creating energy security for Europe and other regions. He proposed that Pakistan could become a minor stakeholder in pipelines and terminals, leveraging its land, port, and pipeline routes.
