Gujrat: Gujrat Deputy Commissioner Mehtab Waseem Azhar has sent a summary to Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar for the establishment of Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) in Gujrat in a bid to maintain greenbelts and parks, according to media reports published on Friday (December 17).

As per the details, the DC mentioned that there is a dire need to set up PHA Gujrat as the city is part of the ‘golden industrial triangle’ of Pakistan. The parks and greenbelts are in a bad state because the local agencies lack the resources to maintain them. It was stated that the city has four major parks including Shahbaz Sharif Park.
Moreover, it was mentioned that the agency will be a self-sustaining body as expected expenditures will be around PKR 63 million, while the estimated income of the agency will be PKR 70 million.

Reportedly, the local administration has also proposed establishment of the Gujrat Solid Waste Management Company.
