Peshawar: The summary for the bifurcation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)’s largest division Malakand has been forwarded to Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan and the provincial revenue department — a news source reported. As per the publication, the new division will comprise Dir Bala, Payen, Chitral Bala, Mastuj, and Bajaur.

According to the 2017 census, Malakand is KP’s largest division with a population of 8.66 million and an area spanning 32,007 square kilometres. The headquarter of the division is located in Saidu Sharif in Swat, which is at a great distance from Dir Bala, Payen, Chitral Bala, Mastuj, and Bajaur. This causes various issues for residents of these areas, as they have difficulty accessing the main city.

The Malakand division will include Malakand, Swat, Buner, and Shangla.
While the summary has already been forwarded to the CM, he is yet to make a final decision on the matter, with the topic currently under deliberation.
