According to the NHA’s proposed timeline, the project is to be completed in 30 months with a construction budget of PKR 175 billion and is expected to be integrated with the Intelligent Transport System (ITS).
Previously, in a Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA) meeting held under the Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, it was decided that a private party would fund the construction of the M-6 and transfer it back to the NHA after the defined concession period expires.

Chairman NHA Captain Sikandar Qayyum (retired) said in his address that Prime Minister Imran Khan was striving hard to provide the concrete infrastructure that will lead to the country’s economic uplift. He further revealed that the Peshawar-Karachi Motorway had been completed, except for this 306-kilometre-long M-6 section; with the segment containing 14 interchanges, one bridge, six flyovers, ten service stations and 12 rest areas.
