Mansehra: The work on Suki Kinari Hydropower project is in progress despite the lockdown, a news source reported. The labourers had earlier been given the option of either staying at the work site or going on leaves in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the project’s Deputy Director Commercial and Technical Affairs, Bilal Khan, all the precautions have been taken in line with the measures introduced by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. Each labourer is being screened before going to the worksite, he added.
The dam is being developed at the Kunhar River in Kaghan valley.

In a related development, the National Bank of Pakistan has begun depositing salaries of more than 100,000 government employees of Mansehra and Battagram districts in their accounts. To this effect, NBP Regional Director Nadeem Ahmad said that the measure is being taken in effort to contain the coronavirus pandemic.
