Faisalabad: Keeping the occurrence of over 150 road accidents along Canal Road, TEPA suggested the closing off of 9 out of 17 ramps and 3 bridges connecting it to various colonies, according to a news source. According to a Traffic Engineering and Planning survey in November 2016, municipal corporations and city authorities had been requested to close off 4 ramps on the east of Canal Road, and 4 on the west immediately, but declined to do so.
The same survey determined that these ramps had been built at such an angle that they directed vehicles from the societies directly into the traffic, leading to an escalating number of road accidents. It had been recommended that these ramps be built at a 45 degrees angle, so that drivers getting onto the Canal Road can enter the traffic more smoothly.
