Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed the Punjab secretary for housing and urban development to suggest measures to stop wastage of clean water, a news source reported. Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi, speaking on the matter, stated that any recourse necessary will be taken to save water and car service stations will be charged for using clean water.
Justice Qureshi was hearing a petition by Abdullah Malik of the Civil Society Network on the waste of water. Housing secretary requested for submitting the government plant for water preservation. The court allowed one day for the purpose and said that the case would be heard on daily basis.
The petitioner had claimed that clean water was being wasted by and could be recycled. He had also petitioned that canal water could be used for watering plants and greenbelts in the city instead of clean water.
