Lahore: In an effort to raise awareness about waste segregation and plastic reduction, Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has engaged students across the city in a series of educational initiatives. As part of the ongoing Suthra Punjab campaign, which was launched under the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, LWMC’s social mobiliser teams have been working closely with schools to educate young minds on the importance of maintaining cleanliness and managing waste effectively.

In a recent event at the Govt Girls High School, Rampura, the LWMC school awareness team addressed over 1,000 students on the significance of waste segregation. The session emphasized the importance of reducing plastic waste, which has become a major environmental concern in urban areas like Lahore.
A highlight of the program was the selection and training of 15 students who were appointed as Clean Campus Ambassadors. These students will play a vital role in ensuring cleanliness and promoting waste segregation within their school campus, setting an example for others to follow.
CEO of LWMC, Babar Sahib Din, highlighted the significance of this initiative, noting that these activities are designed to provide children with practical training in sanitation practices, which will not only benefit their schools but also contribute to building a cleaner and healthier community.

“We are committed to providing hands-on training to students, encouraging them to adopt better waste management practices. The Suthra Punjab campaign is a crucial part of our strategy to engage the community, especially the younger generation, in making Lahore a cleaner city,” stated Babar Sahib Din.
This awareness drive, which is part of a broader effort to improve Lahore’s sanitation and waste management, will continue with more schools being targeted for similar campaigns. The initiative aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to contribute to a greener, more sustainable future.
In addition to training Clean Campus Ambassadors, LWMC has been conducting special awareness campaigns and providing sanitation facilities across the city. The company believes that engaging students in these efforts will have a lasting impact, inspiring future generations to take responsibility for their environment.
