MCL Administrator Dr Mujtaba Paracha recently issued instructions to this effect. Under the proposed project, the corporation is expected to digitise over 246,000 streetlight points in Lahore.
Previously, the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) had finalised an agreement with the Metropolitan Corporation to prepare a ‘streetlights application’.
Dr Paracha stated that the MCL does not have enough resources at its disposal to monitor streetlights on 214 venues in the city. He added that modern technology would provide data on the streetlights on an immediate basis.

The MCL administrator said that the government spends millions of rupees on streetlights, but these facilities get damaged due to minor technical faults. The proposed digitisation programme would help in identifying damaged streetlights on a timely basis.
