Lahore: The government is looking to hand over the ownership and maintenance of streetlights to a single local agency in efforts to resolve frequent issues – a news source reported.

On Monday, Lahore Division Commissioner Asif Bilal stated that in order to avoid issues related to ownership, the government is considering handing over the operation and maintenance of street lights of the city to a single agency.
He directed the relevant officials to ensure that all the streetlights of all the major roads in Lahore are operational within ten days.

He further said that a joint team of all agencies in the Lahore administration will start to make rounds to guarantee that the streetlights are being maintained. He added that according to the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), 18 roads with 100% working streetlights would be handed over to the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) soon.
