E&T Regional Director Rao Shakeel-ur-Rehman has notified the management of 50 housing societies of the department’s new strategy.
The department recently completed its survey of vacant plots in the city. It said that the members of these 50 societies have yet to pay taxes on their plots.

Reportedly, these individuals were sent repeated reminders to this effect. The E&T officials are not able to achieve their tax collection target because of property tax defaulters.
To facilitate this measure, the department has set up desks in the societies concerned. The orders make it mandatory for the schemes to get a computerised no-objection certificate (NOC) for transferring and registering vacant plots.

The society members will have to clear their dues in order to get a computerised NOC from the E&T Department.
