Islamabad: The authorities concerned are reviewing the strategies devised for implementing the federal government’s-sponsored poverty alleviation programme, titled ‘Ehsaas’, a news source reported. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (PM) on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation Dr Sania Nishtar expressed her views on the matter.

She went on to discuss the possibilities of private sector collaboration in the project. The ‘Ehsaas’ framework is comprised of 115 policy actions to be undertaken by 28 federal ministries and agencies.
As of now, there are three avenues with potential for private sector investment. These include solutions innovation challenge to develop value chains and poverty alleviation strategies by identifying private sector partners, private sector commitments for big ticket targets of poverty alleviation policy and social protection, and regular contracting in ways which promote transparency.

For implanting the initiative, the executive has adopted the best international poverty alleviation practices in an affordable and innovative manner, she added.
