Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Monday (October 11) was briefed on the ‘Strategic Plan for Mineral Development’ during a review meeting by Petroleum Secretary Dr Arshad Mahmood, according to media reports.

Sharing details about the strategic plan, it was revealed the plan includes technical outreach, fiscal incentives, database development, training of indigenous human resources, and harmonising efforts of the provincial and federal government.
During the meeting, PM Khan ordered the concerned authorities to achieve the targets set by Mineral Development Framework (MDF) in order to benefit from the natural resources and minerals. He reiterated that tax relief, electricity, gas, and other facilities should be provided to the Special Economic Zones (SEZs), which are being established under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Moreover, the prime minister mentioned that the mineral sector has a huge potential and good returns on investment as it boosts overall economic growth. He further added that a joint effort is required between the provincial and federal governments for the implementation of a mineral development framework and development of the mineral sector.

Additionally, PM Khan ordered appointing a focal person to facilitate cooperation between the provincial and federal governments. The prime minister ordered to achieve the set targets within allocated timelines.
