Lahore: The Water and Sewerage Agency (WASA) has decided to renew its previously dropped project and received the approval of the caretaker Chief Minister to construct a storage tank on Lawrence Road, a news source reported. The tank is meant to facilitate the drainage of rainwater as soon as possible.
Previously, the project had been included in WASA budget of 2017-18, but then had to be dropped because of a lack of funds. Lawrence Road is located on low ground and become flooded with water. Now in view of more than usual monsoon rains, the project has been restarted.
The tank will be made beside the gates of Bagh-e-Jinnah, and it will store 400,000 gallons of water. Rainwater on Lawrence Road will be collected through a drainage pipe to the tank. The project will cost approximately PKR 150 million.
