Lahore: The domestic prices of steel products on Friday (December 23) increased for the third time in a week by PKR 3,000 per ton, according to news sources. As per the details, the retail price of steel rebars now stand in the range of PKR 217,500 – 222,000 per ton.

The news report highlighted that domestic steel producers forming the country’s southern manufacturing hub hiked these rates, which might disrupt the country’s construction sector and the allied industries.

Previously, the steel manufacturers raise the prices by PKR 2,000 per ton. Last week, Aisha Steel Mills Limited (ASL) increased the rate of Hot Dipped Galvanized Coil (HDGC) and Cold Rolled Coil (CRC) by PKR 2,000 per ton, where the new price of CRC and HDGC now stand at Rs. 211,550 per ton and Rs. 218,900 per ton respectively.
The supply-chain interruptions and fluctuating prices of steel products are concerning for the construction industry and steel manufacturers alike, said the news report.
