Quetta: The Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Thursday issued a stay order to the Quetta Development Authority (QDA); barring it from implementing the agreement signed with a private company with regard to the expansion of the Zarghoon Housing Scheme, a news source reported. The court further directed the QDA to submit all the documents to this effect.

The BHC issued the stay order while hearing a petition filed by Naseebullah. The complainant stated that the agreement with the private company will put the QDA’s reputation at stake since the private partners seek to use the authority’s name to make quick money. Responding to the citizen’s complaint, the BHC barred the civic agency from executing the agreement and directed it to provide documents to the court as evidence.

According to reports, several political, social and public organisations have already raised their concerns over the agreement; claiming that facilitating addition of 60 acres of land in Zarghoon Housing Scheme will not help QDA make much income. They claim that the private partner will instead use the QDA name to launch new plots in the society at expensive rates. They have demanded that the said project be managed by the QDA in order to keep plot prices affordable for public.
