Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Thursday said that his government was committed to utilising state land for the development of public welfare projects, a news source reported. Further, he stated that the executive would create employment opportunities by utilising the income earned through the auction of government properties.

He expressed his views on the matter during a meeting held to discuss several measures proposed to facilitate the utilisation of government-owned lands in Punjab for the betterment of public. The participants reviewed the assets owned by the Punjab Cooperative Board for Liquidation (PCBL).
The PM instructed the Punjab Law Minister and the PCBL administration to expedite their efforts for early completion of court cases pertaining to the government’s assets.
In response, PCBL Chairperson Bushra Aman informed the meeting that the PCBL owned 293 assets. She added that 98 assets were immediately available for auction. These assets comprised of commercial and residential properties, along with those belonging to the agricultural sector, she said.

Further, Aman informed PM Khan that the new PCBL administration had recovered assets worth billions of rupees from illegal occupation within the last six months.
