Lahore: Environment Protection Agency (EPA) Director Misbah Lodhi has said that a comprehensive plan will be formed in consultation with the stakeholders to terminate the usage of polythene bags, a news source reported.

EPA Director Lodhi shared this information in meeting held to discuss negative impact of polythene bags on the environment. Representatives of the World Wide Fund for Nature-Pakistan (WWF-Pakistan), Lahore Chambers of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Pakistan Plastic Manufacturers Association, and officials from related departments attended this meeting.
The representatives of Pakistan Plastic Manufacturers Association proposed that the ban on usage of polythene bags be imposed phase wise. To this, the EPA director said that the final decision on the process will be made once all the stakeholders share their suggestions.

The drive against use of polythene bags is being run countrywide. In this regard, several cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have already been made plastic-bag free.
