Karachi: The Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) is attempting to help meet the consumer demand for gas by building two new pipelines, according to a news source. There is a demand and supply gap for gas in Sindh, particularly in Karachi, so the SSGC is looking to resolve this issue in the most efficient way possible.

The first pipeline will add 40 MMCFD gas to the system and is 12”dia x 46 km in size. It is expected to be commissioned by the first week of January 2020. The second pipeline will be 8”dia x 28 km in size, and would bring 23 MMCFD gas into the system by the third week of January 2020.

Once SSGC gets these two pipelines to start operating, then 65 MMCFD gas would be available to bridge the demand-supply gap present this season. This gap is being adversely felt by both domestic and industrial users, as the gas pressure in many areas in the province has decreased significantly.
