Karachi: Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh on Thursday instructed the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) to accelerate the process of laying gas pipelines from interior Sindh gas fields to Karachi, a news source reported. As per the publication, the minister issued the directive so that natural gas – volume 400 million metric cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) – would be delivered for local consumption.

Reportedly, the minister held a meeting with SSGC officials directed them to take the necessary measures for the timely delivery of natural gas to the city. He also assured the SSGC officials of cooperation from the government and provision of passage for gas pipelines to Karachi.

Other senior officials including SSGC Oil and Gas Energy Department Director Abrar Sheikh, Sindh Energy Secretary Musaddiq Ahmed Khan, SSGC managing director, and senior general manager also attended the meeting.
