Pursuant to the details, the initiative involves upgrading 2,500 km of pipelines under a PKR 25 billion investment, with a significant portion allocated to road reconstruction alongside pipeline installation. The company works in various Karachi localities, including DHA Phase-II Extension, Lyari, Baldia, North Nazimabad, and Malir.
The broader five-year rehabilitation effort is set to conclude in Karachi by FY 2025-26, with an additional 2,000 km of pipeline upgrades planned in the final phase. Further funding details will be announced in the upcoming fiscal year.
SSGC currently supplies 730 mmcfd of gas against a demand of 1,100 mmcfd, managing the shortfall through controlled distribution. The company serves 3.2 million consumers across a 50,000 km pipeline network in Sindh and Balochistan.

Despite ongoing progress, concerns have been raised regarding delays in road repairs. SSGC has clarified that advance payments are made to relevant municipal authorities, but restoration work follows the completion of pipeline installations, which are expected to be connected within the next six months.
