Lahore: The Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has described the special appointment of Justice Jawad Hasan for resolving issues of overseas Pakistanis as a historical step, saying that the government and the judiciary are on the same page for resolving the grievances of overseas Pakistanis, a news source reported.

Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar had recently called on Honourable Chief Justice (CJ) of the Lahore High Court Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan. Matters relating to judicial cases of Overseas Pakistanis pending in the Lahore High Court and subordinate judiciary were discussed in the meeting. The Lahore High Court CJ had then informed the Governor that a special bench headed by Justice Jawad Hasan has been constituted to hear the cases of Overseas Pakistanis for expeditious disposal.
A Monitoring Cell under the supervision of Additional Registrar Lahore High Court Khalid Saeed Wattoo was also in the plans. The cell will be established to monitor the pending cases at district level.
Speaking further on the development, the governor said that the promise of Prime Minister Imran Khan of ensuring due rights to the overseas community will be fulfilled.
