Lahore: Additional Director General of Housing Captain (retired) Shahmir Iqbal presided over a crucial meeting of the Lahore Development Authority’s (LDA) committee where it was highlighted that special initiatives aimed at promoting a cycling culture within the city are being carried out, according to news published on July 26.

The said meeting was held with the primary objective of reviewing measures to enhance the living environment in the provincial capital. Convened on the directives of the Commissioner of Lahore and LDA Director General, the meeting focused on the urgent removal of encroachments on nine model highways. The meeting also decided that a dedicated cycling lane will be established on model highways to promote cycling culture in Lahore.

Moreover, the Director General of Housing emphasized the issuance of strict instructions to the parking company to clamp down on illegal parking and overcharging along model highways. In a bid to adhere to building and zoning regulations, commercial establishments such as restaurants and large stores situated along model highways will also be required to allocate sufficient space for parking.
