Gwadar: The Balochistan government has granted Special Economic District (SED) status to Gwadar with the aim of promoting port activities and facilitating the rapid development of this coastal district, a news source reported on May 31.

Chief Minister, Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo, has approved the summary proposed by the Planning and Development Department to declare Gwadar as an SED. The news source states that the purpose of Special Economic District status given to Gwadar is to implement professional policies formulated by the government, which will contribute to the district’s speedy development.

Furthermore, by designating Gwadar as an SED, the government seeks to establish a favourable environment for attracting investments, stimulating economic activities, and creating job opportunities in the district.
