Islamabad: To promote cleanliness in the federal capital and check instances of littering, the local authorities have formed a special committee comprised of the CDA’s Building Control Section Director, Metropolitan Corporation Director Sanitation, and one representative of the district administration – a news source reported.

The committee will review the steps taken for ensuring cleanliness in Islamabad, along with specifically seeing to the clearing of drains in the city. The group, as such, has been instructed to begin its work from Tuesday (August 6) onward.
As per the report, people will now be fined for littering, and particularly for throwing garbage into the city’s drains and sewerage system.

Additionally, the committee will work to keep the city clean during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha festivities – and ensuring that no animal carcasses are left on the road sides.
Other cleanliness measures, such as cutting grass and wild bushes on the green belts along the city’s roads and important avenues, will also be overseen by the committee.
