Lahore: The Government of Punjab has decided to provide basic facilities to 4,630 villages of 11 districts in South Punjab, reported a news source. In this regard, Housing Department and Urban Development & Public Health Engineering Wing has formed and sent a PC-1 of PKR 3.8 billion to Planning and Development Department for further approvals.
Under this project, the selected villages will have systems in place for provision of water, disposal of waste, construction of toilets, cleaning drains, laying of sewerage lines, arranging for health and education facilities, and spreading awareness among villagers.
In addition to that, 25 model villages will also be set up in various districts including Rahim Yar Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Lodhran, Bahawalnagar, Khanewal, Laiyyah, Muzafargarh, Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Vehari.
To fund the project and ensure that it is completed as per the plans, World Bank will also be providing a grant of USD 10 million.
