Islamabad: South Korean firm ‘Posco International Corp’ is eyeing to become the liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplier to Pakistan LNG – having offered the lowest bid of 7.9673% to Brent for LNG cargo supply in September, a news source reported today (August 6).

Reportedly, the formal announcement of the winning bidder is to be made later in the day. It was announced on the Pakistan LNG’s website that six companies had technically qualified for the import tender for purchase of two LNG cargo deliveries in September. These firms qualified among the 11 who had placed their offers into the tender. The qualified firms include SOCAR Trading (UK), PetroChina International Singapore, Gunvor Singapore, Vitol Bahrain, Trafigura, and Posco International Corp.

Moreover, it was observed that it is unusual for the South Korean firm to participate in Pakistan LNG’s import tender and the officials have associated this development of the firm’s inclination to expand third–party trade activities.
