Rawalpindi: Over 1,056,000 samplings have been planted by Forests Rawalpindi South Circle in Rawalpindi South, Jhelum, and Chakwal districts under the Prime Minister’s Green Pakistan Program, according to a news report. Forests Rawalpindi South Circle Conservator Saqib Mahmood Ali has said that the department has planted 306% additional trees over the set target.
Ali added that a comprehensive plan of massive tree plantation was devised to bring maximum area under forest cover as a means of overcoming environmental degradation and the Forests Department has made all efforts for maximising plantation in the areas. This project is in line with the relevant components of Environment and Climate Change of Vision 2025 and 11th Five Year Development Plan (2013-2018), which have been approved by the Planning Commission.
