Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah has directed the authorities concerned to formulate standard operation procedures (SOPs) for resuming public transport facilities in the province, a news source reported.

To this effect, CM Murad held a meeting with Minister for Transport Syed Awais Shah to discuss issues pertaining to transport in the wake of the ongoing coronavirus lockdown situatuin. The transport minister informed CM Murad about the problems faced by public transporters and their reservations.

In response, the chief minister directed Awais Shah to formulate SOPs so that the public transport services could resume. He assured the transport minister that the government would address the issues of transporters on a priority basis and resolve their problems. Awais Shah said that SOPs would be designed with inputs from the province’s transporters community.

Previously, the Sindh transport minister had directed the officials concerned to ban all inter-city and intra-city public transport within Sindh. Among measures taken to check the spread of COVID-19, public commute through rickshaws, taxis, and buses is also banned.
