Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has devised a series of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to reopen the tourism sector for the upcoming season – in a meeting chaired by KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan to review the preparations, a news source reported.

The chief minister was briefed on the preparations and the SOPs to reopen the tourism sector – to keep a check on preventative measures against the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic for the safety of the tourists visiting the province during the season. The SOPs will have to be approved by a joint committee of the Health, Tourism, Relief, And Planning Departments.

Furthermore, Khan was also briefed on the additional measures to promote tourism including the establishment of Integrated Tourist Zones (ITZs). The CM was informed that the government has also floated tenders for the construction of portable toilets, rest areas and tourist facilitation hubs. Additionally, the road and infrastructure projects have also been progressing at a steady pace.
