Peshawar: The authorities concerned on Thursday launched two solar-powered potable water schemes worth PKR 7.7 million in the Orakzai tribal district, a news source reported.

Provincial Minister for Food Qalandar Khan Lodhi presided as the chief guest at the launch ceremony. Orakzai Assistant Commissioner Haider Hussain, DPO Salahuddin Kundi, and several other community members were all present at the occasion.
The ‘Sarhad Rural Support Programme’ is a joint venture of Germany and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government. The German government earlier launched the initiative in the newly merged tribal districts.
The provincial minister appreciated the efforts of the district administration and the German authorities for launching the project. He said that similar schemes would benefit over 150 households in the tribal district.

He informed the participants that as many as 240 infrastructure schemes were in the pipeline. He added that 3,400 people would be given technical and vocational training.
