Karachi: Sindh Minister for Energy Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh on Wednesday (November 3) inaugurated the solar power project at Civil Hospital Karachi, according to media reports.

Under the Sindh Solar Energy Project, 37 hospitals were being solarised, which includes Civil Hospital Karachi, and seven other government hospitals in the city. Sindh Minister for Energy Sheikh stated that the incumbent government was obligated by the international agreements to decrease the environmental pollution. To fulfil the agreements, the government is focusing on transparent, alternative, and renewable energy projects.
Moreover, the minister disclosed that with the collaboration of the World Bank, a project is being developed to use solar power for the provision of clean electricity for homes in rural areas in Sindh. During the ceremony, Energy Minister Sheikh appreciated the cooperation of WB officials and the performance of the staff of the Sindh Energy Department’s Solar Energy Project.

Secretary Energy Abu Bakar Madani, Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital Karachi Noor Muhammad Soomro, Director Infrastructure of WB, and other officials were present at the ceremony.
