Karachi: A 500 kW grid tie solar power system and plantation drive was inaugurated at Hamdard University Karachi Main Campus, a news source reported.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest and CEO of PRETTL Company, Germany, Mr. Steffen Thierfelder noted that Germany receives sunlight for only 156 days, and even then it was taking full advantage of solar energy with a large number of roofs in Germany having solar panels. Pakistan, on the other hand, has the sun for 365 days and this should be utilised.
The additional electricity Hamdard University would receive from this plant would be supplied to other industries; thus Hamdard University would contribute to minimise the shortage of electricity in the country.
