Karachi: The Sindh Minister for Alternative Energy Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh said that 200 villages and 5,000 schools in rural areas will be provided with solar power, according to a news report. He said that Sindh has various resources for generating renewable energy which can cater to the power needs of the country by generating thousands of megawatts of electricity.
Shaikh also said that as provinces require federal government’s permission over the use of alternative energy resources, the Sindh government would be considering this matter at the next meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) so that work could soon start on pending renewable energy projects.
