Lahore: The Italian oil and gas giant Enihas inaugurated Bhit Photovoltaic Plant in Pakistan on Friday – a news source reported. The inauguration ceremony took place through the company’s subsidiary Eni New Energy Pakistan. This its first solar project in the country. The plant was completed near the Bhit Gas Plant.
The main purpose of the plant is to support upstream operations by providing green energy in an off-grid configuration. According to the statement issued by the company, the Bhit Photovoltaic Plant has a capacity of 10MW. The plant is expected to produce approximately 20GWh (Gigawatt hours) of energy on an hourly basis.
The power will be used on site, help reduce gas consumption and help avoid emission worth 144,000 tonnes of CO2 during its operational lifetime.
The plant will work in synergy with the existing gas power plant. Exploiting all the synergies in place with its presence, Enihas has achieved a short time-to market; with a start-up reached only six months after the Final Investment Decision (FID).
