Skardu: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Tuesday performed the inauguration for the ‘Software Technology Park’ in a ceremony held in Gilgit, a news source reported.

The Software Technology Park in Gilgit is an initiative of the Special Communications Organisation (SCO). As per the official press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the new technology park would promote innovation and research in the fields on Information Technology (IT) and defence communication.

The army chief said that the initiative will trigger cyber industry development in the region. Moreover, he lauded the SCO for introducing the said facility and stated the establishment of these IT clusters in remote areas ‘would have a great effect by encouraging innovation and digitisation’.
